Hello from NZ. No smart comments about the Bledisloe Cup.
I am intrigued to have found your web site. My uncle, Pat Cooney, was a pilot in 460 squadron. He trained in NZ, was initially posted to 142 squadron based at Binbrook in August 1941. He was posted to 460 squadron in Dec 1941, flying from Breighton from January 1942 onwards. He failed to return from a mission on 13 March 1942 to bomb Dunkirk, having been shot down over Belgium. (I am unclear as to whether he was en route or returning). He and his crew are buried in a civilian cemetery in St Joris near Nieuport in Belgium. I have visited his grave in 1991.
I have quite a bit of information from his training days and early missions. Also his letters home. One of my cousins has his flight diaries and I am trying to get those back.
I have yet to look at the rest of your website but I am glad you have so much information about 460 squadron. I am trying to assemble all the information I have got on Pat into some logical order.
I look forward to hearing from you.
