Molesworth airfield opened for operations in May 1941. It was transferred to USAAF control in June 1942 and was still in use by the USAF as late as 1992. It is 240 feet above sea level and consisted of 3 runways. There were two "T2" type hangars and one "J" type hangar on site.
460 SQUADRON
460 Squadron RAAF was originally a Wellington
Squadron when it was formed around a nucleus of one flight from No. 458 Squadron on 15
November 1941 at Molesworth, Huntingdonshire as part of No. 8 Bomber group. They left
Molesworth on 4 January 1942.
